background: This gene is a member of the cyclophilin family of peptidylprolyl isomerases. The cyclophilins are a highly conserved family, members of which play an important role in protein folding, immunosuppression by cyclosporin A, and infection of HIV-1 virions. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] Function: PPIases accelerate the folding of proteins. It catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides. Subcellular Location: Nucleus. Tissue Specificity: Abundantly expressed in kidney but has a ubiquitously low expression pattern in other adult tissues. Similarity: Belongs to the cyclophilin-type PPIase family. PPIL4 subfamily. Contains 1 PPIase cyclophilin-type domain. Contains 1 RRM (RNA recognition motif) domain.
