background: The Drosophila segment polarity gene lin encodes a protein, lines, which plays important roles in development of the epidermis and hindgut. This gene encodes a protein containing a lines-like domain. This gene is located on chromosome 15 and clustered with the gene encoding ankyrin repeat and SOCS box-containing protein 7. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010] Function: May regulate the disassembly of focal adhesions. May localize receptor-like tyrosine phosphatases type 2A at specific sites on the plasma membrane, possibly regulating their interaction with the extracellular environment and their association with substrates. Subcellular Location: Cytoplasm. Cell surface. Colocalizes with PTPRF at the cell surface. Tissue Specificity: Expressed only in brain. Similarity: Belongs to the liprin family.
