background: Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have a wide variety of functions, most of which encompass some form of transcriptional activation or repression. The majority of zinc-finger proteins contain a Krüppel-type DNA binding domain and a KRAB domain, which is thought to interact with KAP1, thereby recruiting histone modifying proteins. ZNF681 (zinc finger protein 681) is a 576 amino acid protein that belongs to the Krüppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family and contains sixteen C2H2-type zinc fingers. Localizing to nucleus, ZNF681 is thought to play a role in transcriptional regulation and is encoded by a gene that localizes to human chromosome 19p12. Function: May be involved in transcriptional regulation. Subcellular Location: Nucleus. Similarity: Belongs to the krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. Contains 16 C2H2-type zinc fingers. Contains 1 KRAB domain.
